- : The PC cannot read Amiga format and I don't believe the Mac can either.
- : All three machines, however, can read MSDOS formatted disks. I'm not
- : sure how to do it on the Mac (is it included in the OS?) but with the

- MacOS 7.5 has a thing similar to CrossDOS. It's a system extension.
- Lets the Mac read from/write to MS-DOS formats. Works fine for me
- under shapeshifter. It'll even sniff the files on the disk, and
- figure out what they are and put up the appropriate icons for them.

-
- : Amiga, you should get CrossDos. It is a commercial package but is
- : included with Workbench 2.1 and greater. If you are not using Workbench
- : 2.1, let me tell you that it is definitely worth upgrading (or even to
- : 3.1).
-
- : I believe there is also a shareware program on Aminet that lets the Amiga
- : read/write PC disks. I think it's called MessyDOS but I'm really not
- : familiar with it.
-
- : Of course, there is one minor inconvenience in using PC disks with the
- : Amiga; you can only use 720K MSDOS disks if your Amiga doesn't have a
- : high density floppy (ie: it is an 880K).
-
- In this day and age, it would behoove any Amiga user who needs
- data exchange with other systems to go buy a high density floppy drive.
- I use the Dell drive (about $120 at dealers). No problems with it at
- all. Tiny. quiet. inconspicuous. Doesn't embarass itself at parties :)
